The Sacramento City College Library has approximately 75,000 books available to be checked out.
Who can check out books?
The following groups of people are eligible to check out books:
- students who are enrolled in SCC (or other Los Rios) classes in the current semester;
- current SCC (or other Los Rios) employees;
- holders of a community borrowers card (for more information about this card, please see the Access Services Policy).
How do I know where to find a book?
All books are listed in the library catalog. When you find an item, you will see the location and the call number. These are the keys to finding a book; you need to know which part of the library it's in and what the call number is.
What do I need to have in order to check out the book?
Students need to bring their student access card; employees should bring their employee ID card.
Can I check out books from other libraries?
The library catalog lists books from all Los Rios Libraries (ARC, CRC, EDC, FLC, SCC). Click the "Request" button to have a book delivered to the location of your choice. If you need a book that is not at any of the Los Rios libraries, you can fill out an Interlibrary Loan form at the Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor.
Can I check out textbooks for my class?
The library has textbooks on reserve for many classes; please see the textbooks page for details on this service.
Can I check out books at the Davis or West Sacramento Center?
You can request books from the main campus or any other Los Rios library and have them sent to the Davis or West Sacramento Centers. Both Centers also have a reserve collection of current textbooks. Details are available on the following pages:
